　　如果我们回顾人类的历史，一万年前农业在世界不同地区的开展的确是一件重大的事。我们虽然看到人口在地球上开始慢慢地增加，但总的说来人类社会的改变并不那么显著，一直到250年前瓦特发明蒸汽机带动了工业革命之后，人类社会的改变才变得非常快速，以至于过去一百年来所发生的变化，似乎更胜于工业革命发生以前的一千年来的改变。
